Good Questions, Honest Answers
Everything Winston-Salem neighbors usually want to know before their first visit — and if we missed one, just call.
What areas around Winston-Salem do you serve?
We're based in Winston-Salem (27101) and cover about a 20-mile reach. That's the whole city, including Ardmore, the West End, Buena Vista, Washington Park, Sherwood Forest, Mount Tabor, Old Town and the neighborhoods out toward Salem Lake, plus Clemmons, Lewisville, Kernersville, Pfafftown, Walkertown, Rural Hall and Bermuda Run. If you're near the edge of that line, call and ask; for a full list we can usually make it work.
Do you give free estimates?
Yes. For most jobs a few photos and a short phone call are enough for a firm price. Bigger or less predictable projects get a free in-person look first. Either way, you'll know the number before anything is scheduled.
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
We price by the job whenever the work is clear enough to do that, so you know the cost ahead of time. For open-ended punch-list visits we agree on a rate and a rough scope together, and we keep you posted as we go. If something takes less time than expected, the bill reflects it.
Are your pros licensed and insured?
Yes. The work is done by insured local pros who hold the licenses and registrations required in North Carolina for the job at hand, so electrical and plumbing connections are handled by licensed tradespeople. Ask us anything before we start.
What jobs do you take on?
The everyday repair and upkeep list: drywall and plaster patches, door adjustments, TV and shelf mounting, furniture assembly, ceiling fans and light fixtures, dimmers, smart switches and hardwired doorbells, faucet, toilet and disposal repairs and replacements, fence and gate repair, gutter cleaning, pressure washing, paint touch-ups, garage storage, smart thermostats and seasonal maintenance. Send the whole list, small items included, and we'll plan a single visit around it.
My house is in a historic district. Does that change anything?
It can. Old Salem and the West End are locally designated historic districts, and exterior changes there, such as replacing a fence, swapping a front door or changing porch details, may need a certificate of appropriateness from the city before work starts. Interior repairs and like-for-like maintenance usually don't. Tell us your address when you book and we'll talk through whether anything on your list needs that step first.
When is the best time to get my house ready for the seasons here?
Two windows matter most in Forsyth County. Late November into December, after the oaks and poplars have dropped their leaves, is the time to clean gutters, check downspout drainage and look at weatherstripping before ice season. Late April or May, once the pine pollen has settled, is the time to wash siding and decks, recaulk, and service fans before the muggy stretch starts.
Can I just text you a photo?
Please do. Two or three clear photos, one close up and one from across the room, plus a sentence about what's going on, usually tell us enough to price the job and bring the right parts on the first trip. It saves you a visit and saves us a guess.
How far out are you booked?
Small jobs can often be fit in within the week. A longer list may take a bit more lead time so we can block out enough hours to finish everything in one visit instead of leaving you with half a list. We'll give you a real arrival window and call if we're running behind.
Got a list? Let's shorten it.
One quick call or text gets you a real price and a real arrival time — usually within the week.
